This is what mountain teaches us. We might seem like a puny ant in front of it but we can still dream to reach the top, however, far it might seem. It is this self-belief of reaching the top despite the insurmountable odds that makes mountains so special for me. An adventure is never complete without a partner in crime. I didnât had 1 but 3. Three complete strangers from different parts of India whom I can now count as my dear friends. We not only hiked together but we shared our pains and happiness alike. Arrival Day At Kilimanjaro International Airport, Tanzania.
Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be welcomed by your guide and transferred to your hotel in Arusha. The transit time from Kilimanjaro International Airport to the hotel is around 1 hour and 30 minutes' drive covering a distance of 65.4 kilometers (40.6 miles).
Day 1: Arusha to Serengeti National Park
Pick up at 6:30 AM from your hotel in Arusha and proceed towards Serengeti National Park, via the beautiful high-lying farmland of Karatu and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Leaving the highlands behind, we descend into the heart of wild Africa – the Serengeti National Park with its endless plains, rolling into the distance as far as the eye can see. We head to the central park area, known as the Seronera area, one of the richest wildlife habitats in the park, featuring the Seronera River, which provides a valuable water source to this area and therefore attracts wildlife well representative of most of the Serengeti’s species. The drive is approximately 235 km / 146 miles and takes about 4 hour and 24 Minute. We arrive in time for lunch and enjoy an afternoon game drive in the Serengeti National Park.
Day 2: Serengeti National Park
Today you will have a full-day game drive in Serengeti with chances to see predators chasing their prey and enjoy their kill. Serengeti is undoubtedly the best-known wildlife sanctuary in the world, unequaled for its natural beauty and scientific value. You will have a game drive in the endless plains of the Serengeti with a chance to see the great herds of wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles or a pride of lions lounging in the shade.
Day 3: Serengeti National Park to Ngorongoro Conservation Area
Enjoy an early breakfast and meet your guide to have a last morning game drive in Serengeti National Park. Later, depart to Ngorongoro Conservation Area with an en-route game drive and picnic lunch. The drive is approximately 140 km / 87 miles and takes about 3-4 hours. Ngorongoro is a special conservation area and not a National Park. The whole area is managed for both animals and local Maasai people who graze their cattle alongside the indigenous wildlife.
Day 4: Ngorongoro Crater (5 hrs game drive) & back to Arusha
After breakfast, descend into the crater and enjoy a 5-hour game drive in the crater. The Ngorongoro Crater is one of the most densely crowded African wildlife areas in the world and is home to an estimated 30,000 animals including some of Tanzania’s last remaining black rhino.
Supported by a year-round water supply and fodder, the crater supports a vast variety of animals, which include herds of wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, eland, warthog, hippo, and giant African elephants. Another big draw to this picturesque national park is its huge population of predators, which include lions, hyenas, jackals, cheetahs, and the ever-elusive leopard. We will enjoy a picnic lunch on the crater floor. After the game drive, drive back to Arusha/Moshi (approximately 160 km / 99 miles, about 2-3 hours).
Last day of your safari and flight home
This is the final day of your safari, so enjoy a delicious breakfast and relax while you wait for your guide. Your guide will pick you up, and you will begin your journey to Kilimanjaro International Airport via Arusha, covering a distance of 65.4 kilometers (40.6 miles).
